Neodymium-doped yttrium-aluminum perovskite

Material

Nd:YAP

Neodymium doped yttrium aluminum perovskite (Nd:YAP or YAlO3:Nd3+) is an established material for high power systems and is particularly suitable for lasers with electro-optical cells or harmonic generators for decoupled polarized beams. The typical emission wavelength of Nd:YAP with 1340nm is advantageous for medical applications compared to Nd:YAG with its comparable 1319nm transition. This is due to the higher absorption of water, skin or body fluids at this wavelength. If the polarized output beam is considered, Nd:YAP can preferably be used in lasers with optical cells or harmonic generators.
