Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet
Material
Nd:YAG
Neodymium doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser crystals (Nd3+:Y3Al5O12 or Nd:YAG) are widely used for industrial, medical and scientific applications. The main advantages are: low laser threshold, high efficiency, low losses at 1.064µm, high optical quality, good thermal conductivity and thermal shock characteristics, and mechanical and chemical stability. This makes Nd:YAG the most suitable and commercial laser material of all solid-state lasers.
Impex uses Nd:YAG crystals grown using the Czochralsky method. We offer various laser rods and slabs with different doping on customer request. Diffusion bonded crystals with undoped YAG and Cr:YAG are possible. We also produce laser crystals with concave radii of curvature (resonator mirrors) on the input side to compensate for thermal lensing effects and achieve higher output powers.
